Can You Press With Just a Few Layers Full?

Utilizing your SX-280 layer capacity correctly will produce the best product outcome.

We advise against only pressing with only a few layers full. Any presses with scissor assemblies which open each bag layer evenly and simultaneously such as the SX-280 and SX-200 must have the same amount of pomace in each bag to prevent immediate damage to scissor assemblies. If you need to short fill the press, do so by filling all bags evenly at or above 50% full.

Filling below 50% will put uneven stress on the frame and moving platen which can potentially cause damage.
